M.O.M.S. - Ministry of Mothers Sharing

M.O.M.S. is an opportunity for mothers to come together and grow spiritually and personally. You deserve time to step back from everyone else's demands and feed your soul.

  • Renew yourself
  • Refresh your relationships
  • Deepen your joy
"Sharing the MOMS course with seven wise, compassionate and thoughtful women transformed my heart, mind and soul.  We came together with different stories, at various stages of our journeys.  My heart was opened to the grace of God as the other moms shared their stories of both joy and sorrow.  We laughed and cried.  Through our shared laughter and tears (sometimes combined), I received the gift of genuine girl-friendship.  I feel like I guardian angels who will help me on the path of living from love not fear.  I am so grateful for the affirmation of values that I receive from the other moms.  They took away the loneliness and anxiety that often accompany me on this journey of motherhood.  I feel so blessed to be part of the circle of mothers on this sacred journey. -- Debbie

"For four years I have assumed that living in Berkeley, running my own business and having two children would not allow me the time to be in the MOMs group on eight Thursday mornings.  This spring I put those things aside and was a willing participant in a wonderful community of moms.  I met caring and inspiring women with whom I shared my concerns and dreams. It allowed me to tap into a spiritual part of myself that needed to be reawakened.  A life affirming event!" -- Christine

"For me, the two hours each week for eight weeks that seemed so hard to set aside, became an oasis in my otherwise busy days, and resulted in life-changing insights, laughter, tears and abiding friendships." - Kathleen

"Besides the new friendships that were formed, I found that MOMS provided me a format to take a deeper look at my daily spirituality, what that meant for me today and how I wanted to maintain it as a constant in my daily life." - Susan

A M.O.M.S. group involves weekly sessions that explore topics common to all mothers such as - how to find time for what you care about, anxiety, stress, growing relationships, and deepening spirituality. Each group is limited to 6 participants and led by two trained facilitators.

Next Session - Fall 2010: 8 WEEKS: September 16, 23, 30, October 7, 14, 21, 28, and November 4 - Celebration dinner on Tuesday, November 2 - All morning sessions are held from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM. Fee is $75.00 for the session.

M.O.M.S. - Part II - Come venture a deeper inquiry into the creative power we exercise in our relationships with ourselves, others, and with the Holy. This seminar will draw upon the wisdom of creative artists to inform our exercises each week, especially the work of Julia Cameron, author of books on creative inspiration including The Artist’s Way. We will dive into many topics, such as:
• The life of the imagination
• The holy work of lust and desire
• Finding innocence, compassion and bravery in our choices
• The phenomenon of no time
• Courage and encouragement in work and play
• Resiliency in disappointment
• Letting go when we really want to hang on

If your energy for relationships seems to have landed on a plateau and you want more dynamic deeply connected experiences of true vitality and less frustration, then The Deep End is a way to discover how to wake up your energies again

The course will be held Wednesday mornings, from 9:30 to 11:30 am in March and April, beginning March 3. Please contact Mother Beth directly to sign up, at beth@smvsf.org. Unlike the M.O.M.S. course that requires 100% attendance each week, it is possible to miss two sessions of The Deep End and still have a sufficiently “deep” experience. Please register soon, the course will be limited to eight participants. M.O.M.S. is a prerequisite to participating in M.O.M.S. Part II The Deep End
