Candlelight Concerts return October 10 - 7:00 PM - The Crooked Jades - string band - They will be performing driving dance tunes and haunting ballads with an amazing array of vintage and eclectic instruments. The Crooked Jades are modern innovators in the old-time Americana world, creating a cinematic sound based on American roots infused with the diverse musical influences of Europe and Africa. Children's Choir/Youth Choir Rehearse on Wednesdays at 4:15 PM. Sing each week at the 9:00 AM service. Children's choir is Kindergarten through 3rd grade. Youth Choir is grades 4 through 8.
Adult Choir Auditions The Adult Choir is always looking for new members. If you have a pleasant voice and can read music or learn it quickly, we have a place for you. The Adult Choir sings at the 11:00 AM service and participates in several special services and concerts each year. Music Director Chip Grant
Chip Grant previously served as the Director of Music at the Church of St. Helena, an historic Episcopal parish in Beaufort, South Carolina, and is the founder and director of Urban Opera, a new organization in the Bay Area. He is a member of the professional choral ensemble Volti, and was first introduced to St. Mary’s as a guest bass section leader and soloist over the past several years. Chip earned his Master of Music degree in conducting at New England Conservatory in Boston. He has worked with the Boston Ballet and traveled to Rome to be assistant conductor with Opera Festival di Roma. Chip also served as Chorusmaster with San Francisco Lyric Opera for several seasons. As Director of Music at St. Mary's he supervises the entire music program, conducts the Parish Choir, coordinates the Candlelight Concert Series, and serves for the time being as the cantor at St. Mary's Unplugged.
Associate Director Steve Repasky
Steve Repasky, a native of Youngstown, Ohio, is a partner in
Hupalo & Repasky Organ Builders, LLC, serving as
an organ tuner, technician, builder, and restorer.
He served for many years as the organist and
schola director at St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic
Church in San Francisco, a large congregation in
the SOMA area, and is a former officer with the San
Francisco chapter of the American Guild of
Organists. Steve has a Bachelor of Music in organ
performance from Youngstown State University, as
well as a Master of Library and Information Science
from UC Berkeley. Steve serves as organist and leader of the Youth Choir. He is, in addition, the pianist for Unplugged.
Children’s Choir Director, Britt La Gatta
Britt is a native of Marin, and grew up at both the Episcopal Church of Our Savior in Mill Valley and St. Stephen’s, Belvedere. After graduating from Sarah Lawrence College in Bronxville, NY, with a Bachelor of Arts in Music, Britt moved to New York City, where she sang professionally, married, and began her family. She moved back to Marin County some years ago, where her second son was born; and for the past 12 years, has been the soprano section leader and Director of the Children’s and Family Choirs at Old First Presbyterian Church in San Francisco. In addition, Britt also teaches private voice and beginning piano to students of a wide age range; and she and her husband, Lou, run a real estate company in Marin. Britt brings a wealth of experience with children and with liturgical music to our ministry at St. Mary’s. Don’t forget that there is always room in the choir for new members!
