Announcing St. Mary's New Associate Rector: The Rev. Kira Austin-Young

It is with great enthusiasm and delight that I introduce the St. Mary’s Parish Community to our new Associate Rector, the Rev. Kira Austin-Young.

Rev. Kira Austin-Young currently serves as priest-in-charge of St. Ann's Episcopal Church in Nashville, TN. She has previously served as priest-in-charge of Church of the Epiphany, Lebanon, TN and as a chaplain resident at Monroe Carell Jr. Children Hospital at Vanderbilt. Originally from Dallas, Texas, she holds a Bachelor of Music degree in vocal performance from Rice University and a Master of Divinity degree from Vanderbilt University. Her book Pro-Choice and Christian: Reconciling Faith, Politics, and Justice came out in 2017, and she has been a contributing writer to publications out of Westminster-John Knox Press and the United Methodist Publishing House. She is married to art designer and Emmy award-winning puppeteer Michael Schupbach. Their dog, Ruth Bader Ginsbark, and cats, Tilda and Wallace, round out their household.

Rev. Austin-Young will begin her ministry with us on September 19, 2022. Please keep her and her family in your prayers as they transition to our community, and keep St. Mary’s in your prayers as we embark on this new and exciting chapter in our common life. Alleluia!!
