Episcopal Impact Fund Grant

Episcopal Impact Fund has granted $5,000 for use by St. Mary’s Justice Ministries in accompanying a migrant family seeking asylum in San Francisco. Every year Episcopal Impact Fund makes grants to fund the prophetic outreach work of Episcopal congregations within the Diocese of California. Diocesan churches are at work throughout the Bay Area serving people who are food insecure, experiencing homelessness, trying to establish new lives, or who need access to high-quality early childhood education.
St. Mary’s accompaniment team is working in partnership with a similar team from Congregation Sherith Israel in a Nueva Esperanza Accompaniment Team (NEAT), as trained and administered through Interfaith Movement for Human Integrity. The specific migrant family has not yet been identified but is expected this fall. When they arrive, the NEAT will assist them in developing independent lives through housing, food, education, employment, legal representation, material support, and learning to negotiate the private and public systems of their new home. Episcopal Impact Fund is proud to fund St. Mary’s groundbreaking inter-faith migrant accompaniment work.
