St. Mary's Reflection: The Rev. David Erickson - One Body, Many Parts
Last week we announced the 2022 vestry candidate slate and I have been delighted by the outpouring of enthusiastic support for the slate (if you haven’t seen it yet, it can be found HERE). I received several emails about how talented and committed the slate members are, and several St. Mary people also shared with me similar comments after church on Sunday. We certainly are a church with an abundance of committed and talented people!
It is so very fitting that on Sunday we read Paul’s words from his first letter to the Corinthians about how important every member is to the Body of Christ, the church. It takes all of us, doing what we can, what God is inviting us to do, to truly make possible God’s vision for us as the parish of St. Mary’s. Again, I am so deeply grateful of all the people who give of their time and talent to make Christ’s love and grace tangible. It is a remarkable blessing!
And the good news is that we are all invited, called, to give of ourselves towards God’s mission in the world as known through St. Mary’s. If you consider this place your church home. I strongly encourage you to think about how you can be a part of making it all happen at St. Mary’s. This could be an ongoing ministry, a one-time event, or something in between. If you are unfamiliar with the current ministry opportunities at St. Mary’s, please check out the list of opportunities HERE.
When we get involved, we discover that not only does God’s grace become real for others, in expands exponentially in our lives as well. The real depth and gift of being a member of a church comes when we worship regularly on a Sunday AND get involved in other ways that make real that grace to others. Just ask any of our Sunday School teachers or Migration Ministry members. To allow God’s love and grace to flow through us is also an opportunity for it to grow in us, exponentially!
Thank you for being a part of St. Mary’s!
