Program Year Launch
Return to Normal Sunday Schedule
Sunday, September 7, 2014
Beginning Sunday, September 7, we will return to our regular four Sunday services at 8:00 a.m., 9:00 a.m., 11:00 a.m., and 5:30 p.m. Sunday School and other programs will also get started for the Fall.
Bay Area Sacred Harp
Singing at St. Mary the Virgin
Bay Area Sacred Harp will be holding their monthly meeting at St. Mary the Virgin. This is a VERY unique opportunity to experience "shape-note singing," which is sometimes referred to by old-timers in the South as "fa-so-la."
Taize Eucharist Sunday, August 31
The music of Taize appeals to young and old, regardless of nationality, culture or religious tradition. It is the Word of God set to music -- its constant, gentle, repetitive quality allows deep contemplation and prayer on the sentiments expressed.
Communion is shared in a circle and all are invited to meet God in that experience and receive the elements according to their own faith and understanding.
The Very Rev. Dr. Aan Jones
On Sunday, August 31, the Very Rev. Dr. Alan Jones, Dean Emeritus of Grace Cathedral, will be our guest celebrant at the 10:00 a.m. service.
Dr. Rod Dugliss
This Sunday, August 31, we will welcome Dr. Rod Dugliss back to St. Mary's pulpit as our guest preacher at both the 8:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. services. Rod is the Dean of the School for Deacons and the Director of Field Education at the Church Divinity School of the Pacific.
