The writer of Ecclesiastes reminds us of a profound truth about the rhythm of God’s creation: “To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under heaven.”
For the past nine months, St. Mary’s has been in a vibrant season of deep activity, learning, and connection. Together, we have worshipped across three Sunday services, engaged in countless ministries, and shared the busy, beautiful work of being a community of faith. But just as the earth shifts its tilt toward the sun, our communal life is now stepping into a different kind of holy season: Summer.
In the life of the Church, summer isn’t just a break in the calendar; it is an invitation to Sabbath.
Sabbath is not merely about doing nothing, it is about making space for God to restore our souls.
To help us all step into this rhythm of rest, we are switching once again to our summer schedule, starting this Sunday. Moving from three services to two, 8am and 10am.
This seasonal shift is also a Sabbath for the hands that help guide our parish. Our dedicated church staff will be taking much-needed vacations to rest and recharge. Because of this, there will be moments when fewer staff members are on hand to manage daily tasks. We gently ask for your patience and grace during these weeks, knowing that supporting their rest is a way we love our leaders well.
Our deepest hope is that the people and families of St. Mary’s will embrace this season of renewal. Whether you are traveling to new places, spending intentional time with family, or enjoying a quiet morning at home, we pray you find ways to be present to God’s goodness that are meaningful and life-giving.
Sundays will continue to be our anchor, a place to gather and refresh our spirits. But outside of those hours, we give you permission, encouragement even, to find rest, renewal, and fun.
Come September, we will return to our three services and a bevy of exciting activities and opportunities in the Fall. Until then, may you feel the gentle invite of the Creator to slow down, breathe deeply, and trust that God is at work even in our resting.
