Who: Children Pre-K - 5th Grade
When: Sundays, 9:45 AM - 10:30 AM (Children will depart with the children and youth choirs before the adult sermon at the 9 AM service).
What: Through Sunday School, children are invited to grow in faith and discover God’s love through stories, play, and creativity. We can’t wait to learn and wonder together!
Our program year kicks off on Sunday, September 13th. Even if your child attended last year or in the past, please register again as we are using a new system. If you have any questions, please email Rev. Elaina at elaina@smvsf.org.
Available during the 9:00 and 11:00 a.m. services,
Children will leave for Sunday School near the conclusion of the 9 AM service when the choirs process out, and go with their teacher to the preschool classroom. Please plan to pick up your child from the preschool room at 10:30 AM. This year our Pre-K - 1st grade classroom will be using Godly Play, which focuses on making meaning through story, wonder, and play. This Sunday, the Pre-K - 1st graders will be encountering the story of creation. Look out for a parent handout explaining the lesson that children can take home.
Classroom Children will leave for Sunday School near the conclusion of the 9 AM service when the choirs process out, and will go with their teacher to a classroom on the 3rd floor of the Pixley house. They will be dismissed and brought to the courtyard at 10:30 AM. This year, our 2nd-5th grade classroom will be using a lectionary-based curriculum, which invites children to dive deeper into one of Sunday’s scripture readings. This Sunday, they will be exploring our Gospel passage, Matthew 18:21-35.
The confirmation class will meet in the Library on the second floor of Pixley House following the 9 a.m. service. Youth will remain in worship for the sermon before heading to class. If you are interested in registering your child for confirmation, please complete the following form:
We invite all young people in grades 4 through 12 to join us as acolytes at the 9 a.m. service that resumes September 13th.
Youth acolytes are important leaders of our worship services. Scheduling is flexible; we know our youth and their families have busy lives. Training will be offered at times convenient for you. Please contact Debbie Veatch at or 415-244-3515 if you or your child are interested or have any questions.
