“As you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, continue to live your lives in
him, rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught,
abounding in thanksgiving.”
Colossians 2:6–7
St. Mary’s is a vibrant community where being rooted in joy and growing in grace
happens each and every day. We experience it in uplifting worship, in genuine
fellowship that deepens our connections, and in ministries that bring Christ’s healing
and compassionate love to San Francisco and the wider world. Our parish continues to
flourish as a living testament to what God can do when we abide in faith and abound in
gratitude.
This shared life and vital ministry are sustained through our communal financial
generosity, especially through the commitment of an annual pledge. A pledge is far
more than a financial gift; it is a tangible spiritual practice, an act of faith, and an
expression of thanksgiving for God’s steady presence in our lives.
We invite you to prayerfully consider making a financial pledge to St. Mary’s for 2027.
We are seeking a goal of $950,000 from our pledging members. To help us meet the
needs of our growing congregation and expand our ministries, we also invite those who
are able to “level up” their giving this year.
As always, we encourage you to reflect on giving proportionally in relation to your
household income. While the biblical tithe of 10% serves as a traditional guidepost for
Christian stewardship, generosity is an ongoing spiritual journey toward, and sometimes
beyond, that mark. As a point of reference for your prayerful discernment, St. Mary’s
current average pledge is $6000 and the median pledge is $3000.
What is most important, is that giving is a relational journey and not simply a
transactional act. Whatever amount you discern, we hope St. Mary’s remains a top
philanthropic priority in your life, reflecting your thanksgiving for God’s blessings and
your dedication to our common future.
Please mark your calendar for Celebration Sunday on Sunday, November 15, 2027,
when we will gather for a parish-wide luncheon following our combined 10:00 a.m.
service to give thanks for our pledges and celebrate our shared life in Christ.
Thank you for your faith, your devotion, and your generosity. Grounded in Christ’s love,
may we continue to be rooted in joy and grow together in grace.
With abundant gratitude,
Rev. David
