Sandy Stadtfeld

Sandy Stadtfeld has been a member of St. Mary’s since 1990.  A native San Franciscan, Sandy lived most of his childhood on the Peninsula.  He attended the U.S. Coast Guard Academy, sailing four summers on the training barque Eagle.  After graduating in 1981 with a degree in ocean engineering, Sandy served as a commissioned officer aboard an ocean-going cutter based in Alameda, then ashore as engineering program manager for several classes of West Coast cutters.  He left active duty in 1986 to attend U.C. Berkeley, where in 1988 he completed a master’s degree in civil engineering, focusing on transportation.  For the next 27 years he worked as a technology and strategic consultant in rail and maritime transportation.  Since 2015 Sandy has been employed by the Bay Area Rapid Transit District (BART), doing long-range capital and operations planning.  Sandy’s two sons Jacob (31) and August (28) were raised in Cow Hollow, and attended St. Mary’s from baptism through Sunday school, choir, as acolytes, and in the youth group.  In September of 2023, Sandy and parishioner Deborah Franklin were joyfully married here at St. Mary’s, where both serve in a range of ministries.  They reside in both Cow Hollow and Sausalito, and enjoy hiking, sailing, reading, museums, all kinds of music, visitors' centers, the Giants, Glasgow, and the continuing vitality of this community.
