Trey Hunter

Trey Hunter brings a passion for spiritual growth and community building shaped by his unique journey to the Episcopal Church. Trey comes from Southern Baptist roots in rural southern New Mexico. After being confirmed into the Episcopal Church in the Diocese of the Rio Grande in 2012, he helped establish a Canterbury campus ministry during his undergraduate years at New Mexico State University and participated in service projects at English cathedrals with fellow Canterbury campus ministers.

In his professional life in public finance, Trey serves as the Capital Budget Manager for the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission, where he oversees the administration of a multi-billion-dollar capital program across the City’s water, power, and sewer enterprises. His career in public service has included roles with the State of California, including leading Capital Finance and Sustainability teams for CAL FIRE and serving as a budget analyst and policy advisor for the California Governor. He holds a Master of Public Administration from the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law.

At St. Mary’s, Trey serves as a Stephen Minister, eucharistic minister at the 8:00 a.m. service, and has contributed to recent stewardship campaigns. Trey is also completing his fourth year of Education for Ministry (EfM).

Trey is deeply committed to ensuring the Episcopal Church remains a vibrant spiritual home for all seekers in the generations to come. Trey is grateful to be part of the St. Mary the Virgin community.
